Optimize the Usage of Swap to Speed up Response
Optimize the Usage of Swap to Speed up Response for Ubuntu
As we know, swap is the area on a hard disk as part of the Virtual Memory. Swap temporarily holds memory pages that are inactive. Swap space is used when your system decides that it needs physical memory(RAM) for active processes and there is insufficient unused physical memory available. If the system happens to need more memory resources or space, inactive pages in physical memory are then moved to the swap space therefore freeing up that physical memory for other uses.
Because disks are much slower than RAM, this can lead to slower response times for system and applications if pr
A reminder to myself.. Lightdm resolution
Wrong Login Screen Resolution
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1.Firstly we need to find out what your monitors identifier is. Open up a terminal, start typing "terminal" in your unity dash to see the option or press ctrl+alt+t
2.Type/copy this command to show your display details:
xrandr -q
If you only have one monitor you will see a line in the output like the following ( probably with some different values, its the identifier at the start we are after):
default connected 1280x1024+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 473mm x 296mm
The screen identifier is default in this case.
3.Open up the lightdm conf file:
sudo gedit /etc/lightdm
Going to upgrade to Ubuntu 12.10 Now...
wish me luck :D .. :fingerscrossed:
hope I'll back soon.. :sprint:
